After a very busy year of earning my teaching certificate as a post-baccalaureate at BYU, followed by a year of teaching as an intern in third grade while serving as the Relief Society President in my singles ward, I've been enjoying my first summer break since, well, high school! Let me just say it... I'm a fan.
I went to Missouri for a family reunion and Arizona to spend time with the fam. I swam, hiked, read, took naps. It was glorious. Last week I moved out of my apartment to a townhouse where this is my new view from my bedroom window.
The room I just moved out of had a lovely view of another apartment building and a parking lot.
This is better. :)
As I packed all my stuff (how is it that I have so much stuff!?) it occurred to me how many hobbies I had abandoned over the past few years of being ridiculously busy. I stayed at school for far too many hours last year and sort of lost balance in my life. Teaching and my church calling became my whole life. My goal for this year is to rediscover who I am outside of being a teacher and restore balance. I want to get back to having hobbies and talents and a social circle outside of school. I adore my students and I love my coworkers, but I'm excited to branch out a little in my after-school life and remember the hobbies I used to love, and perhaps discover new talents and skills to develop.
